Are there any fun, out-of-of-the-ordinary ideas for a birthday celebration in Seattle?

My friend turns 40 on Saturday. I'm throwing a house-boat party, and then we're to follow that up with an evening in Fremont (Seattle neighborhood). Any suggestions on something to do that isn't the standard bar crawl?
