Captive Bead Ring gauge?

Hey!! so i just got my cartilage pierced yesterday at Inkies Tattoo Studio in Fremont California and he put in a captive bead ring but I don't remember correctly what size gauge he said it was.it was either a 14g or a 16g but I really want to know so I can change it later on so is there a way to tell what size it is...can I measure it or something??
