How can I live on my own in the Bay area at age 20?

Im 20 years old, and I want to join a jr college, but I just cant go to school and fully concentrate on my studies at home, and my parents want me OUT! I live in Fremont, work part time, I make about 275 weekly. My sights are set on a studio or a 1 bdrm, but Im willing to live with friends as long as we have separate bedrooms. Im wondering if I can get in a low income apartment? What cities have are the cheapest to live in? Im not really concerned about living conditions just as long as i dont end up in a ghetto like oakland or richmond. Where do I look? What aare the chances?
